The service area of Butler Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. is divided into nine districts, each represented by a democratically elected trustee. The nine board members reside in the district he/she represents. Board members are elected by the members of the cooperative for a three-year term. Voting takes place online and by mail before the cooperative's Annual Meeting in April.

David Evans is a resident of Oxford Township. He has been a cooperative member since 1997 and a trustee since 2006. He became president of the board in 2022 and was previously the board secretary. He has earned his Credentialed Cooperative Director and Board Leadership certificate through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). David is employed by Art Evans & Sons Inc. David and his wife Dawn have four children. He enjoys antique tractors, 4-wheeling and spending time with his family.

Jim Meador resides in Milford Township and has been a member of the cooperative since 1978. He has served on the board of trustees since 2006 and became the secretary in 2022. Jim has earned the Credentialed Cooperative Director and Board Leadership certificates through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). Jim retired from Miami University after 30 years of working at the power plant. He has been on the Milford Township Fire Department for 33 years and served as assistant chief for seven years. He also has been a board member for the Miami University Credit Union for 11 years. Jim and his wife, Karen, have three children and three grandchildren. In his free time, Jim enjoys woodworking, reading, traveling and history.

Thomas (Tom) McQuiston is a resident of Somers Township. He has been a member of the cooperative since 1971 and a trustee for the cooperative since 1981. He was previously president of the board for 33 years. Tom is a self-employed farmer, and has been on the Preble County Farm Bureau's board and is a past president, a board member of the Landmark/Harvest Land cooperative and a two-term Preble County Commissioner. Tom is a member of the Farm Bureau Advisory Board and a member of the Morning Sun Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, Karen, have three children and seven grandchildren. His hobbies include movies, playing cards and farm toys.

Jay Hasbrook is a resident of Gratis Township. He has been a member of the cooperative since 1998 and a cooperative trustee since 2020. He has received the Credentialed Cooperative Director certification through NRECA. Jay holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wright State University with a major in finance and a minor in accounting. He also graduated magna cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law and was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1993. He is retired after 30 years at General Motors. He also served in the Army and Navy for 26 years. Jay is a member of the Preble County Planning Board, Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. He has three daughters. In his free time, he enjoys restoring tractors and older pickup trucks.

Bob Hoelle is a resident of Wayne Township and has been a member of the cooperative since 1978. He has served as a cooperative trustee since 2001 and vice president since 2003. Bob has earned the Credentialed Cooperative Director and Board Leadership certificates from NRECA. Bob is a farmer and was a Wayne Township trustee for 36 years. He has also served as a trustee with the Southwest Regional Water District and is a member of the Butler County Farm Bureau. Bob has five daughters. He enjoys spending time with his four grandchildren and woodworking in his free time.

Ronald Kolb is a resident of Reily Township and has been a member of the cooperative since 1966. Ronald has also been a trustee for Butler Rural Electric Cooperative since 1990. He is a retired farmer and also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Ronald has earned the Credentialed Cooperative Director and Board Leadership courses that are offered by NRECA. He has also been a member of the Butler County Fair board for 15 years and has served as both the vice president and president of Butler County Pork Producers. Ronald and his wife, Janice, have three children and six grandchildren. He enjoys collecting and restoring John Deere 110 lawn mowers and helping his son with his pulling truck.

Michael Tilton is a resident of Hanover Township and has been a cooperative member since 1992. Michael has received his Credentialed Cooperative Director and Board Leadership courses through NRECA. He has been a cooperative trustee since 2003. Michael is retired from his position as Chief Deputy at the Butler County Auditors Office. He was a board member for the Farm Bureau for 10 years, and has been a Special Deputy the Butler County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol since 1994. Mike is also Chairperson of the Hanover Township Park Committee. Michael and his wife, Teresa, have three children.

Robert Spaeth is a resident of Morgan Township and has been a cooperative member since 1974. Robert has been a Butler Rural Electric Cooperative trustee since 2009. While serving, he has earned the Credentialed Cooperative Director Certificate and the Board Leadership Certificate from NRECA. Robert is a retired member of the Morgan Ross Athletic Association, after serving as trustee for 12 years. Robert has two children. He is a self-employed carpenter and enjoys fishing and tractor pulls in his free time.

James is a resident of Ross Township and has been a cooperative member since 2018. He has been a Butler Rural Electric Cooperative trustee since 2022. James earned a Bachelor’s degree in electromechanical engineering from Miami University and an associate degree in electromechanical technology from Southeast Community College. He is employed at Tallgrass Energy as a field engineer. In his free time, he likes spending time with his family and enjoying the outdoors. He also likes helping his wife with her bakery business and his father-in-law with his heating and cooling business. James and his wife, Sarah, have two daughters.
